Ten Mile River 2008

Troop 22’s Summer Camping Adventure

Troop 22’s big camping event of the year is our long-term camping at the Ten Mile River Scout Reservation.

Ten Mile River, or TMR as it known to most Scouts, is a twelve thousand acre camp located in the foothills of the Catskill mountains, overlooking the Delaware River.  The Reservation is comprised of several camps, one of which is “The Showplace of TMR,” Camp Aquehonga.  It is, simply, the best camp on the reservation.

Our Troop has been a regular at Ten Mile River for a long time; 2008 will be our 52nd consecutive year there.  We attend Camp Aquehonga for two weeks:

Week 1:  August 3 - August 9         Week 2:  August 10 - August 16

Scouts have the option of camping the 1st week, the 2nd week, or both.   We have our own campsite and provide our own leadership, and the Scouts have access to an excellent camp staff as well, which includes members from our own Troop.

We are especially proud to say that our own Anthony Allison will be reprising his role of Camp Director of Camp Aquehonga for his third consecutive year.

The costs for camp this year are:

Package Troop

Non-Troop

Price
One-Week $ 300 $ 350
Two-Week $ 550 $ 640

The packages include the camp fees, outpost fees (such as a river trip), events and a several "extras" that we provide as part of the Troop 22 Program.

*These costs do not reflect the actual price of camp; the Troop, through its fundraising operations, subsidizes some of the costs for our own Scouts. The Scouts help as well by participating in our events.  The actual cost for a two-week Scout camper for camp fees plus events and other "extras" is $640.  Through your support of our fund raisers and event participation and careful planning from our leaders, we are able to subsidize the fee and pass these savings on to you.

Note that fees can be further reduced by taking part in the Memorial Day Parade on May 26, 2008, and, if necessary, by applying for Campership Assistance.  Contact us for more information.

Please feel free to come down to any meeting to talk to us about summer camp.

Please note that transportation is not included in the camp fee.  We do ask for your assistance in transporting Scouts/equipment to and from the camp.

"Camperships" are available to assist those who find the price restrictive.
