Joining a Scout Troop requires a commitment by a Scout to participate in all Troop meetings and activities so far as he is able, and to abide by the policies, rules and dress codes set forth either in writing or as announced by the Troop Leadership. It also requires a commitment from the parent/guardian to help enforce this commitment, and, if asked, to help provide support for the Troop's functions.
There is a one-time initial registration fee for new Scouts of $85; each new Scout receives a welcome kit which includes an Official Boy Scout Handbook and official Troop 22 polo shirt.
Scouts pay dues of $50.00 per year, at the beginning of the season ($50).
The Troop will accept new members at any Troop meeting. Membership is open to boys of any religious faith. You can download the registration form in Adobe Acrobat format (PDF), here >> Boy Scout Application.
A parent or legal guardian must accompany any boy seeking membership.
Troop 22 meets every Wednesday night from 7:30 - 9:00 PM at:
The St. Francis Xavier Lyceum
752 President Street (Between 6th & 7th Avenues) MAP
Brooklyn, NY 11215
The doors generally open around 7:00 PM for pre-meeting activities.
Scouts are expected to attend all meetings. If attendance at a meeting is not possible, the Scout is responsible for notifying his leader beforehand.
Around mid-June, the Troop switches into summer camp mode, and while we do meet, uniforms are not required, nor is dues collected. The troop does not hold meetings during the first two weeks of August, when we are away at summer camp. Please refer to the Troop Calendar for more detailed information.
The wearing of the Scout Uniform is mandatory at all meetings, unless otherwise noted. New members have up to four weeks to obtain their uniforms.
The uniforms are as follows:
Class A (Full Dress)
- Official Scout Shirt, with appropriate insignia
- Official Scout Pants or Shorts
- Official Scout Socks (if shorts are worn)
- Official Scout Belt
- Neckerchief with slide
Class B (Meeting Standard)
- Official Troop Polo Shirt
- Any Shorts, Pants or Jeans
While we do not require the use of a Scout hat, if a hat is to be worn to a Troop meeting, only the Official Scout hat is permitted.
