I joined Troop 2 Brooklyn, sponsored by the Central Branch YMCA in March of 1939. We won the Fort Greene District Rally for 12 years straight until WWII brought a radical change in rules. I moved to Waltham, MA and started a Troop in Watertown, Troop222. I'm now MC T248 in Waltham. I went to Philmont in 2008 with my son and grandson on Crew 725-S2 and backpacked about 70 miles. My highlight in Brooklyn was being picked to man the Giant Fire by Friction set which was our Troops specialty "Stunt", along with 7 other hand picked men. We were part of a floor show at Madison Square Garden to honor the 90th birthday of Uncle Dan Beard and the 30th Anniversary of the Boy Scout of America probably in Feb. 1940. A lesser honor was being part of the the Scout Honor Guard at the opening of the 1939-40 NY Worlds Fair. Thanks for maintaining T22 through thick and thin. Happy Scouting, V.S.

Hopefully some of my "Brothers" will have time to write on this so I can see how everyone is doing. Keep up the good work, and hopefully we can do that alumni camping trip I was talking about. Maybe we can see each other in TMR this year! God Bless! Edwin... RIP! You are always in my thoughts and prayers!

I haven't been on the site in a while. I regret that. Had I known about the reunion dinner, I would have been there. But Henry is right, we should try to get the brother's together. Life takes us all on different paths. But that doesn't mean we forget where we came from.

OK. I went to the troop reunion dinner and I have to say I had the best time of my life! It was great to see everyone there, and I am so thankful for being a part of that evening and of course being a part of the troop! Now, for all you guys out there that we haven't heard from, we need ya to holla! It would be great to see everyone again and hopeful schedule some free time so we can go have a reunion camping trip! We have been brothers for a long time, and we need to rekindle the fires we have had together! I hope the guys that I have gone to camp with will get this message and write on this page! We need all the boys we can get to add to our family! God Bless!

Being a scout in Troop 22 was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I still remember going to camp. I now reside in Tampa, Florida. I work for a radio station here. I spent my summer in Germany covering the World Cup, than went to Japan, South Korea, and China with USA basketball. It was probably one of the best times I've ever had. Some day I hope to return to Brooklyn and work for a TV studio or radio station in New York. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am excited about wanting to go to Ten Mile River, Camp Aquehonga, but I will go next year because I am already going on vacation this August. But I know I will have a good time! I am sure of it! I would first like to congratulate you on your excellent site! I am a former member of Troop 22 (1958-1961). Your photos brought back fond memories of summer camp at TMR and weekend trips to Alpine and Sanita Hills. As a matter of fact, I am almost certain that I am in the parade formation photo in 58 - 60 pictures. (5th row back, 1st scout on the right side). After a long hiatus from scouting, I resumed my scouting career when my oldest son became a Tiger Cub. Three years ago, I helped form Troop 691 in Seaford - Massapequa, which has grown to 45 scouts. I will look through my old photos and scout memorabilia and I will try to find some things to help you out in your history and photo album sections.  Hope to hear from you!!

Yours in Scouting,
Lou

You have and been having a great Scout Troop from what I seen here. I opened the site because I was a member of Troop 2 Brooklyn, 1939-1945. We met in the Hanson Place YMCA up the block from the Williamsburg Savings Bank Building.

I opened your site because you had Troop 2 twice. I enjoyed the visit and especially the photos. I often wondered if Scouts marched as we did in the 40's and I see by your photos you still marched in the late 50's. I always wore my uniform to school during Boy Scout week even up to High School.

I got married started a family and a Scout Troop at St. Stephen's Armenian Church in Watertown, Mass in 1959. I wanted the Troop number to be the same as mine in Brooklyn but it was taken. Then I asked for Troop 22 but that was not possible as a new district had been formed and all the troop within that district had to have a 3 digit number starting with 2. So I picked 222 !

I was SM for 17 years then continued on in the District and Council level. Then I joined a Troop when my grandson became a Boy Scout. Recently I became a 60 year veteran and the Troop Committee contact Brooklyn Council. They sent me a "Brooklynese" interpreters stripe and a pin of the Brooklyn Bridge. It was very nice of them.

I went to TMR, Camp Leatherstocking at age 13. The opening campfire at Ta-le-quah was awesome. The campmaster sat on a rustic throne topped with a carved Great Blue Heron. He said the native Americans held the Blue Heron in great respect and would say more of this later on. He never did remember to say more and we marched out of the camp fire circle with only our flashlights shining on the grand and you could hear a pin drop. He never did get to explaining the significance of the Great Blue Heron and I am still waiting to find out.

Thank you for the opportunity of visiting with you Scouts and I feel privileged to know I have shared the same TMR campfires with you and that the spirit of Scouting burns as brightly as ever in Brooklyn.

See you on the great trail ahead,

"Vee" Sookikian

In 1941, my dad, who passed away last January, was the Scout Master of Troop 22 in Fort Worth. I was 9 at the time but played "ditchem" with the older boys. They helped me grow up fast...and right. Dad later became Scout Master of Troop 9, also in Fort Worth. When I became 12, I joined that troop, and ultimately became Junior Assistant Scout Master before joining that other scout troop called the U.S. ARMY. What I learned in Scouting served me well there. I have always been proud to have been a Scout.

This is a really cool website. I am very happy to see other troops telling about the Order of the Arrow. The music is really cool too. It makes one want to go all your other sites so they can find out what music is on each one.

Your friend in Scouting,
James

Steven You have done a great job on this site, I'm not that great with the use of the Internet it took me quite awhile to find the site.  Bob had to e-mail the address to me.  I'll make sure to see you guys in January when your at Pouch.  Tell everyone I said hello.

This was a great site, nice pictures. My troop doesn't have a web site,
but we are big for the size of our community. We have 15 boy scouts.
I'm the SPL. Have a nice summer!

To the Scouts of Troop 22:
You did a super job with your web site.

This should be publicized -- it says
a lot about your activities.
